Brig. Gen. Edward N. Kirk Marker

 

Located near the Our Heroes: Civil War Monument is the grave of Brigadier General Edward N. Kirk.  After being wounded at the Battle of Stones River, Brig. Gen. Kirk was transported to the Tremont House in Chicago.  He died in July 1863.

Brig. Gen. Kirk’s monument features a simple biographical inscription.  The inscription on the rear of the monument is unreadable.

A drape of mourning, a crown of laurel, and four shields of the United States feature prominently on the otherwise simple monument.
